Pronova BioPharma's Sandefjord plant

The production facilities in Norway are located in Sandefjord, south of Oslo. The plant plays a key role in Pronova BioPharma’s efforts to meet the growing  demand for Omacor/Lovaza. The plant utilizes a unique and complex manufacturing process, which results in the highly purified, omega-3 derived, pharmaceutical product Omacor/Lovaza

The staff of around 128 employees is highly skilled, with specialised employees, engineers, laboratory technicians and process operators. Since 2004, investments of around NOK 650 million have been made in the plant, increasing production capacity by 300 per cent in this period.

Investments have also been made in a new and improved purification system, which  will be implemented during 2008. Current annual production capacity is 1 200 metric tons. In order to meet the growing demand, Pronova BioPharma is building a second plant in Kalundborg, Denmark, which  will double the total capacity . Read more…
